A juice cleanse is a great way to provide your body with an abundance of nutrients that support the detoxification pathways while giving your digestive system a break. It sounds easy enough to just drink delicious juice, but it is good to prepare yourself in order to pull it off feeling good both throughout the cleanse and after. Our mind and body is one unit and a good cleanse supports both those aspects.

A few simple tips will help you achieve a greater experience.

Prepare yourself for the cleanse

It is good to prepare yourself for two reasons: to avoid detox symptoms such as headache, digestive discomfort, and mood swings. It is equally important to be mentally prepared in order to avoid falling into old habits and impulses to eat. Try to wean yourself of caffeinated beverages, alcohol, refined and processed foods at least a few days before your cleanse. Focus on organic protein, unprocessed fats, fruits and vegetables along with herbal tea and water. Think of a juice cleanse as a marathon: both mind and body need to be prepared for successful completion.

Hydrate

It is important to hydrate your body with pure filtered water w hen you are cleansing. Sure, you will be drinking plenty of liquid in juice form, but additional water will support your body’s ability to flush out the toxins. Drinking water will also reduce the rate the sugar that is absorbed when consuming juice and will allow for more stable energy during the day.

Relax

It is a very energy demanding process to cleanse the body. The liver and the kidneys are hard at work. Allow yourself to relax when tired. Take a nap, if possible, and save your energy to be used by your organs for cleansing your body. Listen to music that you enjoy and do activities that makes you happy. When was the last time you lit candles and took a nice, relaxing bath?

Don’t stress

Stress less – especially when on a cleanse. Try not to be as busy as possible just to avoid thinking about food. Relaxing activities will support a better cleanse and also keep your mind more balanced and better equipped to complete the cleanse. Stress will make you more “hangry” (hungry + angry)!

DON’T GIVE UP ON THE FIRST DAY

The first day of a juice cleanse is the hardest. Your brain will receive hunger signals telling you to eat. Remember that you are providing your body with an abundance of nutrients when you are drinking juice, but your body is used to having it’s stomach filled up with solid food and just needs some time to adjust.

When you wake up in the morning of the second day you will most likely have less hunger signals to battle. It can be helpful to drink a cup of warm herbal tea to reduce the feeling of being hungry.

DON’T OVEREAT WHEN THE CLEANSE IS COMPLETE!!!!

Make sure you ask us about Detox Plus. A 2 day meal program after your cleanse, to reactivate your digestive system in a healthy and easy way. To make sure your body doesn’t go in shock and store everything as fat.

We deliver your full days food and drinks.

At the end of your cleanse it is important that you ease into eating regular food again. Remember that your digestive system is empty and needs a gentle wake-up call. A smoothie is a good first food. Adding fibers such as flax or chia seeds is a good way to get the digestive system going again. Work your way up to solid foods and don’t forget to drink adequate water to avoid constipation.
